While wearing a mask and social distancing is still the first line of defense against Covid-19 and other viruses, wearing a visor is an additional form of protection. I decided to give the Vision Visor a try to see if it would be a beneficial tool for my family to use during the pandemic. Here are my thoughts after trying out this innovative new product:
What The Heck Are They? The Scoop
Vision Visors are plastic safety shields worn over the face in order to prevent the inhalation of droplets from coughs and sneezes. We know that these droplets are how viruses, like Covid-19, are spread.
The visor is secured to the head with an adjustable velcro strap. Thick, foam padding keeps the visor a good distance away from the face while also adding a layer of comfort. The plastic visor is supposed to be resistant to fogging and easy-to-clean.
They come in a variety of fun designs, including:
● Dragon
● Unicorn
● Cat
● Tiger
● Bunny
● One-Eyed Dragon
● Ladybug
● Puppy
● Royal
● Viking
● Bee
● Lion
● Fox
● Penguin
● Porcupine
● Gecko
● Owl
● Frog
While they currently only come in kids sizes, they are adjustable to fit most adults. My family tried out the Polite Penguin Vision Visor.
Ease of Use, Packaging?
My Vision Visor arrived in a plain, cardboard box with a plastic film over the front of the visor to prevent it from getting damaged during transit. The film took some work to remove, but the visor arrived in excellent condition with no scratches or dings.
Are They Affordable?
At under $25, the Vision Visor is an affordable addition to wearing a mask. You can’t really put a price on your family’s safety, and since the visor is reusable and seems to be well-made, I think it’s a wise investment to make.
Would I Purchase Them?
I would purchase a visor for each member of my family to wear in addition to wearing a mask or other cloth face covering. While I wouldn’t have my family or myself wear one for every occasion, it is a nice item to have when we are in close proximity to others at a large gathering like school, work, or a party. They would also be good to wear while traveling by plane since you’re in close proximity to others for an extended period of time.
Would I Recommend Them?
I would recommend the Vision Visor to anyone concerned about Covid-19 and other viruses that are spread through respiratory droplets. While I know wearing a mask and social distancing is the first line of defense against contracting viruses like these, having an additional layer of protection in the form of a face shield makes me feel like I’m doing the best I possibly can to protect my family.
The Downlow on The Downside
While the Vision Visor is a fun, affordable way to protect my family, there are a few things that could be tweaked to make it even better:
1. The company promises that the visor is fog-resistant, but we experienced quite a bit of fog while it was being worn without a mask. When worn with a mask, there was very little fog experienced.
2. The penguin’s beak interfered with our vision a bit. I would assume this problem would be found with any of the visors that feature a character with some sort of detail that extends onto the clear part of the visor. While it doesn’t outweigh the benefits the visor provides, it is a little bothersome.
3. It would be nice to have adult visors available that don’t feature children’s characters on them. I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing a penguin visor if I was working in a professional office setting. The company does state on their website that they will be offering adult visors soon.
Overall rating 4.8
Overall, I am pleased with the Vision Visor and it is something my family and I will be using when we are in settings where we might be exposed to Covid-19 or other viruses. With the flu season quickly approaching and the new school year starting up, I feel better knowing my family and I have an additional way to keep ourselves healthy and safe.
