COVID-19 And The PPE Supplies Shortage
Volunteers across the country have made more than 11 million masks so far. All thanks to JoAnn’s fabric stores nationwide.
As you are aware during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Doctors, Nurses and other Health Care Workers are struggling with low supplies of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
The CDC has declared that in time of crises such as these, handmade masks are acceptable and can provide healthcare workers protection that they so desperately need.
What You Can Do To Help
Do you sew? Even if you are just a beginner, you can make a difference to your local hospitals and caregivers. Here is what you can do to help.
Find your local JoAnn’s Store. The Make To Give Effort offers a chance for you to make surgical masks from the comfort of your own home or at one of their Joann Store Sewing stations.
With strong social distancing guidelines in place, the JoAnns stores are offering a safe workspace. Additionally, they are offering curbside pick up. And to encourage you further, they are offering free materials to make masks as long as you are willing to donate them.
So let’s show those Healthcare heroes that we support them in their time of need. Let us know how you do with your make making. You can see some video tutorials here.
What We Are Doing
I ordered my sewing machines online. I bought a handheld on amazon for under 30.00 and a basic beginner sewing machine which I found on Amazon for under 100.00.
We look forward to contributing to the cause and giving back to the wonderful healthcare workers that are tirelessly saving lives during this crisis.
A special thank you to JoAnn Stores, their staff and their President and CEO Wade Miquelon for making this happen.
