Us as moms seem to have it the hardest around the holidays.
From October to January, we are filled with stress, exhaustion, and most importantly, love. Each holiday, we go above and beyond for our kids and family. Whether it be to fix the perfect meal with specials dishes for each person or finding the perfect Christmas present to see our kids face light up with excitement when they open it. We go above and beyond for everyone but eventually forget to go above and beyond for ourselves.
Now, I know what you are thinking. Thanksgiving is about feeding your family. Christmas is all about your kids, and the perfect presents to give them joy. I agree. I am a mom too. But along the way, after all the holidays are over and you look back on what the year has brought you, you tend to realize how little time you got to spend on yourself.
We have all heard the sayings: “Moms’ don’t get breaks,” “Your kids are what is most important,” and “How dare you take time to yourself, you should be ashamed.” Those kinds of comments can get to you. Believe me, I know. But listen to what I am about to tell you.
Let 2022 be YOUR year. Celebrate the little things in life. Cherish the small moments with your children. Fall back in love with yourself if you haven’t already. The last two years have been so hard on everyone with what the world is going through. But do not let that stop you from making the most of what counts. Start now if you can. Take your kids to all the Christmas lights you can see. Make home videos. Take those family photos. Have 3,000+ photos on your phone from capturing every moment of your child’s milestones. Take that weekend trip you have been wanting to go on. Make things count.
Your kids won’t remember that toy they got when they were seven years old. They are going to remember the moment, the memory. How the house smelled on Christmas morning, that family trip you took for their 10th birthday.
Let 2022 bring you nothing but happiness and no regrets.
Let 2022 be the year you find yourself. Get your hair done the way you have been wanting to get it done. Go get your nails done. Take a breather. You deserve it momma.
