I started my journey twenty years ago as a mom. Wow!! As I’m penning this down, I realise, it’s almost two decades now. Wow, how time has truly flown by!
I still remember, when I held her for the first time in my arms . The surge of joy that ran through my whole being . Motherhood is definitely not an easy job.
Everyday is a new lesson. Every experience is a new teacher . I learnt patience , compassion and a lot of other emotions , which were earlier foreign to me.
Childhood
During my childhood it was all the lessons taught by my family which I followed. That and being a psychology student. And I even opened my school research and followed Freud’s developmental process. Then one day, I shut everything off. I just followed my motherly instinct. Because it is never easy. And the journey is the best part. .
Adolescence
It has its own challenges. With the golden rule being, don’t argue. You have to be more of a confidante, a friend and a sounding box for them at times. And by this, I don’t mean you shouldn’t discipline and be firm. Definitely do both, when required. So I became a child when I had to, a friend when the need arose and of course a mother that never rests .
Our Day
Our typical day starts with exercise. Then some activities. We usually spend some time together bonding. Our favourite time is a stop at our dessert shoppe where we tuck into our favorite desserts . And sometimes it’s just watching a fun movie together. Whatever our mood calls for .
From Moms Corner
Few words of advice. I would like to add, to just go with the flow. Each child is different and unique. And what works for one will not work for another. So just follow your heart. And devise your own special “Mom Manual” Just listen to your heart, this usually works.
Me being a teacher helped me tremendously. At the end of the day those students also become like your children. Each imparting a new lesson in your blackboard of life.
Motherhood is the best gift. It teaches you unconditional love, selfless love and the most honest form of love.
